For serious competitors, a rear winch can be an essential piece of equipment, and mounting that winch properly is more than just a matter of looks.

The D44 competition cross member has been designed and tested in the harshest of conditions off road, and provides a tough, strong way to mount a rear winch.

The rear crossmember must be welded to the vehicle chassis rails, and replaces the standard item completely. The winch mounts in a purpose-made cradle and simply bolts into place.

The crossmember also features two integral recovery eyes for winching and towing, and wrap around ends to protect the rear tub.

Cutting of the floor is required to fit the winch, and cutting of the rear side panels is required to accomodate the wrap-around ends.

Designed to complement the lines of the Discovery 2, the D44 heavy duty rear bumper is a direct bolt-on replacement for the standard item.

The low profile rear bumper dramatically improves the departure angle of the vehicle whilst retaining the rear-end protection.

The EGR system fitted to many diesel engines recirculates part of the exhaust gases back in to the air intake. Removing this system can help in keeping the inlet air clean and pure, keeping the inlet manifold temperature down and help to improve engine efficiency.

The D44 EGR replacement pipe allows the EGR valve of the Td5 to be completely removed from the inlet system, elimitaing the restrictions on air flow and helping the engine to breathe.

For anyone contemplating an overland trip into one of the world’s deserts, getting bogged down in sand can be a real worry. Recovery points are few and far between making winch recovery troublesome.

Sand ladders are not a new idea, having been proven time and time again by travellers around the world, becoming de-rigueur equipment for the vehicle.

‘Maxtrax’ have redesigned the concept of the sand ladder using the latest material technologies and design to make a highly effective, lightweight and usable product.

The SDB-160HB uses a free curve reflector. A Free Curve reflector is very efficient because it uses the whole reflector. This allows the spot beam to illuminate approximately 235 meters ahead and the driving beam to illuminate the entire surface in front of the vehicle.

The SDB-160HB has an internal light frame to protect the lamp from vibration and shock when running off-road, plus an impact resistant polycarbonate body protects the exterior. Heat and weather resistant EPT material helps protects lamp integrity.
